Peyton Elementary LIBRARY

Library

The Peyton Elementary Library contains age-appropriate books for Pre-K through 6th grade.  Each class visits the Library once a week.  While there, the younger grades enjoy storytime.  The older grades have various challenges learning library skills throughout the year, such as Library JINGO and Library Jeopardy to name a couple.   Students check out books for one week, however, they are able to renew the materials.  During check-out time, students can also work on putting puzzles together and contributing to the Scrabble board with a word or two relating to the theme for the week.   Fun competitions are held throughout the year, such as the Roses are Red poem competition, the Newbery and Caldecott Challenge.

Book Club

The Panther Book Club is offered to students in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6.   Book Club meets during recess.  At the first meeting of the month, students receive a brief introduction to the book and a copy of the book.  Students read the entire book prior to the second session so they can participate in the discussion at the second meeting of the month.

Mobile Library(Bookmobile)

We are pleased to have the Pikes Peak Library Districts’ County Mobile Library (The Bookmobile) come to Peyton Elementary on most Tuesdays from 1:30-4:00.  This allows our students who have a Pikes Peak Library District library card to return and check out books.  Take advantage of this free resource!
