Vacancy Notice: Maintenance Technician

Wage/Hour Status: 260 days

Reports to: Director of Facilities

Position Summary:

Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance, repairs and replacement of district facilities and equipment including; plumbing, electrical, carpentry, roofing, HVAC, grounds and other building systems.

Position Requirements:

Education/certification: High school diploma (minimum requirement).  Additional education (formal / vocational) preferred.  Must pass background check and meet requirements for district small vehicle license.  Experience with technology applications preferred.

Experience: Two years of building / facility maintenance experience preferred.  Additional experience in building trades also preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Inspects the buildings, grounds, and equipment.  Maintenance department is responsible for all facilities, grounds and fields.  This includes school buildings, transportation & maintenance buildings, rental house, waste water treatment plant, outbuildings, wells and septic systems.

  • Checks with building and department administration for conditions or issues.

  • Handles necessary repairs and maintenance.

  • Installs equipment and appliances.

  • Follows local and state building codes and regulations.

  • Complies with all district safety regulations.

  • Reports any issues discovered or reported to facilities director.

  • Completes work order information for new and completed work.

  • Responds to repair and maintenance requests in a timely but priority ranked fashion.

  • Loads and unloads equipment and tools into work vehicles if needed.

  • Follows written and verbal instructions from the facilities director.

  • Collaborates with the maintenance team and contractors as needed.

  • Reads and follows manuals, blueprints, and other written instructions.

  • Assists with grounds and field maintenance including, sprinkler repairs, mowing and snow / ice removal.

  • Uses equipment, including power tools, hand tools, electric tools, plumbing tools, mowers, skid steer, tractor, back hoe, rotary broom, snow blowers and snow plows as examples.

  • Various other duties as assigned.

Current scheduled hours are Monday through Thursday 6:30am to 3:30pm and 6:30am to 10:30 am on Friday.  Snow / ice removal sometimes requires earlier start times and weekend work.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Substitute Teaching Thank you for your interest in substitute teaching in Peyton School District.  We have a need for half-day  (7:15-11:30 or 11:30-4:00) and full-day subs (7:15-4:00).  Once you have received your CDE substitute teacher license, download and fill out our Substitute Teacher Application and drop it off to the district administration staff in the Career Technical Education Facility (18320 Main Street, Peyton, CO 80831).  Once all of your credentials have cleared, the district administration staff will notify the school secretaries and you will be added to the substitute teacher list to be called in times of need.
