Jill Chase has taught at Peyton Elementary since 2011. She currently holds a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. In addition to her elementary teaching experience she has 10 years of college level teaching experience developing equine business programs, two years’ experience as a paraprofessional, and one year of experience as an elementary school technology coordinator. Jill has also completed the following trainings: Spalding Multisensory Instruction of Language Arts 2, DIBELS, Envision Math, Love and Logic, and U-Stars Science. Currently, Jill resides in Peyton with her husband and two daughters, who both attend Peyton schools. As a family they enjoy horses, showing dogs, and attending dance performances. Jill feels that there is no place better to raise a family than in Peyton where everyone is part of the school community.
1st Grade
First grade students will begin to master decoding letter sounds and combinations in order to read fluently and comprehend different genres. Students will apply appropriate spelling, conventions, and grammar to a variety of sentence types and writing pieces. First grade continues developing number sense, properties, and operations. They interpret visual displays of information, describe shapes by defining attributes, measure to compare objects, and discover the value of coins. First graders also develop social skills needed to be successful throughout life.
Meet Ms. Chase
Meet Ms. Blanchard
Hello! My name is Shelby Blanchard. I was born & raised in Denver, CO and moved to Colorado Springs for college to attend the University of Colorado Colorado Springs where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Inclusive Elementary Education with endorsements in Special Education and Culturally Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE). During my student teaching year, I was also a certified substitute teacher and taught grades K-6. After graduating, I taught in District 49 then switched to Peyton. First grade is such a fundamental year and I truly delight in teaching it! I am currently in graduate school at UCCS. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, cooking, traveling, watching sports and playing with my puppy. I look forward to working with you. You won’t believe how much your child will grow!
