We are a small rural school district located 20 minutes east of Colorado Springs and 10 minutes east of Falcon, CO. We have over 600 students in grade Pre-K through 12. The district has three main school buildings: The Elementary School, which hosts students in Pre-K through 6th grade; the Junior-Senior High School, with students in grade 7-12; and the Career Technical Education Facility.

Position Goal:
Create and foster a positive learning and working environment in management of Peyton Elementary to promote the educational development of each student by use of leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills.
Essential Functions: Performance Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain an effective learning climate in the school.
Exert leadership in the adaptation of the general program of education approved for the school to meet the needs of the community.
Direct the activities of professional and support staff members in the performance of their duties.
Supervise and support the instructional staff in the development and implementation of curriculum and student activities.
Engage in a continuous improvement process based on collaborative decision-making processes with staff.
Report to the superintendent regarding the needs of the school with respect to personnel, equipment, supplies and curriculum.
Assume responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by staff and students.
Assist in the recruiting, retention, screening, training, hiring, assigning and evaluation of staff.
Participate fully and support staff participation in state-approved licensed staff evaluation system.
Delegate authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
Budget school time to provide for the efficient conduct of school instruction and business.
Plan and supervise fire, tornado and lockdown drills.
Prepare and submit the school's budgetary requests, and monitor expenditures of funds.
Prepare or supervise the preparation of reports, records, lists and all other such items as required or requested appropriate to the school's administration.
Participate in principals’ meetings, and other meetings as are required or appropriate.
Attend special events held to recognize student achievement and attend school-sponsored activities, functions and athletic events or delegate the responsibility to an authorized sponsor.
Maintain and oversee the various local funds generated by student activities.
Cooperate with college and university officials regarding teacher training and preparation.
Coordinate or supervise such support services as maintenance, security, food services, recreational programs, financial and accounting functions, library activities, etc.
Orient newly assigned staff members and assist in their development.
Conduct meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
Act as liaison between the school and community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life.
Keep abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing topics of mutual interest with others in the field.
Complete educational training commensurate with the requirements of the District and pursue educational training which will lead to enhanced leadership and/or an advanced degree.

Peyton Jr/Sr High School is accepting applications for paraprofessionals to work with students in small and large group settings in grades 7-12. The ideal candidates are organized, creative, team players who like working with children. No experience is necessary, and training will be provided. Substitute Teaching Thank you for your interest in substitute teaching in Peyton School District. We have a need for half-day (7:15-11:30 or 11:30-4:00) and full-day subs (7:15-4:00). Once you have received your CDE substitute teacher license, download and fill out our Substitute Teacher Application and drop it off to the district administration staff in the Career Technical Education Facility (18320 Main Street, Peyton, CO 80831). Once all of your credentials have cleared, the district administration staff will notify the school secretaries and you will be added to the substitute teacher list to be called in times of need.
