Peyton School District Health Aide

The Health Aide is responsible for caring for students’ health injuries and/or illnesses in an expedient and safe manner. This position works with parents and students while under the supervision of the School Nurse for the control and prevention of disease and for the development of optimum health of every student. This position will be part time with options to sub for the District Nurse as well.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides appropriate emergency care of illness/ injury/mental health to students and staff in accordance with school policy and procedure, and as directed by the school nurse.

  • Assists in control of communicable disease according to procedures.

  • Administers medications to students as delegated by the school nurse to include various rescue medications and scheduled daily medications.

  • Maintains confidentiality of medical information about students and families.

  • Exhibits knowledge of job limitations and accepts supervision.

  • Assists the school nurse with organization and implementation of required vision and hearing screening in accordance with Colorado law.

  • Monitors immunizations and follows-up on compliance with School Nurse

  • Maintains health files on each student and monitors medical orders and individual student health care plans completed by the school nurse.

  • Inputs, immunizations, vision and hearing results in the student database as directed by the school nurse.

  • Completes reports on injuries and medical incidents according to school policy, process and best practice.

  • Coordinates with the school nurse regarding concussion management at the school level.

  • Maintains CPR/First Aid/AED certification.

  • Assists the school nurse with coordinating student medication/healthcare plans for field trips and/or school sponsored activities. 

  • Maintains a neat and orderly health room.

  • Monitors inventory of supplies for the health room with the school nurse

  • Monitors AEDs monthly to ensure proper operation and battery expiration as directed by the school nurse

  • Assists with maintaining current, confidential student lists of health conditions completed by the school nurse.

  • Under specific instruction and close supervision by the school nurse, the employee may be required to provide necessary medical treatments to children with disabilities. This may include but is not limited to: administering physician prescribed medications, gastrointestinal feedings, toileting/diapering, diabetes care and assisting with potential medical emergencies.

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned and delegated.

QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position:

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

  • CNA, EMT, or MA license

  • Criminal background check required for hire

  • CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within one month of hire.

  • Medication Administration class required (within one month of hire)

  • Narcan, Epilepsy, and Epinephrine training required (within one month of hire)

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently. The employee may be required to be in the presence of and/or help clean up body fluids such as stool, urine, blood or vomit in a professional manner.

Fleet Service Technician

The Peyton School District is seeking applicants for a Fleet Service Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible to the Director of Transportation. The Fleet Service Technician is responsible for insuring each student’s safe and efficient transportation by keeping the district’s vehicles/equipment in operation that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational or activity programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 * Minimum two years’ hands on experience in repairing of light, medium and/or heavy-duty

vehicles/equipment.

 * Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a Colorado Class B-PS Commercial Driver’s License.

 * Adapts to changes in responsibilities and work schedule with a positive attitude.

 * Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a Colorado Department of Education Annual Inspector

Qualification Certificate.

 * Ability to perform repairs on school buses and related district vehicles.

 * Provides own hand tools needed for repairs and servicing of district vehicles/equipment.

 * Ability to meet all the qualifications for a school bus driver.

SALARY / BENEFITS: Fair and competitive starting wages, with experience considered, 4 day work week. Benefits include: paid vacation, sick days, holidays, Health & Dental insurance.

ASE certification incentive-Each Peyton School District Fleet Service Technician that successfully obtains and maintains two ASE School Bus certifications will be entitled to a stipend of $750.00 per year. Peyton School District will only give this incentive up to a maximum of 6 ASE School Bus certifications. Peyton School District will reimburse the employee for the test and registration fees after the employee has successfully passed the test.

WORK YEAR: 208 days, 10 hours per day, 4 days per week.

Substitute Teaching Thank you for your interest in substitute teaching in Peyton School District.  We have a need for half-day  (7:15-11:30 or 11:30-4:00) and full-day subs (7:15-4:00).  Once you have received your CDE substitute teacher license, download and fill out our Substitute Teacher Application and drop it off to the district administration staff in the Career Technical Education Facility (18320 Main Street, Peyton, CO 80831).  Once all of your credentials have cleared, the district administration staff will notify the school secretaries and you will be added to the substitute teacher list to be called in times of need.
