2nd Grade

Second grade students will work towards mastery on organizational and time management skills so they can apply these abilities into becoming exceptional learners. They will be able to fluently read and comprehend types of literary genres while applying higher order thinking skills in each text. Second graders will learn how to develop and write detailed paragraphs for the appropriate audience. In math, students will master addition and subtraction facts as well as understand the process of multiplication and division facts. Additionally, second graders will learn how to read and explain time to the quarter hour on analog clocks, and they will be able to count all coins and bills while relating money to story problems. We will use interdisciplinary learning throughout the week to implement real world applications.

Although I was raised in northern Minnesota, I’ve lived in Colorado for about 25 years now. I love many things about these plains of Colorado, including the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the cool nights, and the spectacular mountain views! Some of my hobbies are sewing, crafting, jewelry-making, baking, and spending time with family. My husband and I have four grown children. We also have two grandchildren who have stolen our hearts. I have been teaching in Peyton since 2015 and I am looking forward to working with the students in 2nd grade this year.
